Ranger Posted May 28, 2010 Posted May 28, 2010 I have a buddy who, when visiting, is always asking me to help him understand the lyrics of any given song. So I taught him this little trick that I used to use when hunting deer...cup your hands around your ears and face yourself toward the source of the soundIndulge me, readers: flip on a tune you think you know well and try this trick just for a moment. Let me know what you think....
specialk Posted May 29, 2010 Posted May 29, 2010 Dang, Ranger! It works for me. Cupping the ears really boosts the vocal frequencies to the point that I can easily understand the lyrics. Instead of muddy/muffled/obscure words, I hear actual understandable words. Thanks for this, bro!
livewire Posted May 29, 2010 Posted May 29, 2010 I just move my ears (no hands) towards the sound, just like a deer
ZR Posted May 29, 2010 Posted May 29, 2010 I can only hear what's behind me. Am I doing something wrong?
gtone Posted May 29, 2010 Posted May 29, 2010 I can only hear what's behind me. Am I doing something wrong? Turn those hands around John!
Citrus Posted May 29, 2010 Posted May 29, 2010 that reminds me of when I was big time into stereo gear, and read Stereophile. They had a review of a "invention" that was called hearos or something like that - it was a leather and plastic device that basically cupped your ears so you didn't have to sit with your hands up to your ears.A buddy of mine got them, they definitely changed what you heard, but nothing I wanted to wear whenever I wanted to listen to music. I guess thats what headphones are for
tomteriffic Posted May 29, 2010 Posted May 29, 2010 I think they were called Big Ears. I remember them and all the fuss about 'em but never did get a pair.
