Unstable Floyd Rose

I'm working on an import with a "Licensed by Floyd Rose" on it for a friend. The thing is driving me nuts. Pushing down on the bar or simply bending a note up without touching the bar will pull all the strings flat, like the Floyd hasn't returned to where it was. Re-tune, try again. Stays in tune until I bend some notes. Repeat over and over until there's no downward travel left in the Floyd. Are the spings worn out? Is that even possible? Or is this just a POS that I should stop wasting my time with?

Sounds to me like the 2 posts and/or knife edges could be worn...check the condition of those.

and springs could be tired. fender usa springs are consistent

I'm with ZR, it sounds like knife edges or perhaps posts. One instant tell tale on posts is look for a scored ring round about where the knife edge sits as i can't count the amount of times i've seen where someone's adjusted the trem height with the strings at full tension.

Yeah, knife edges or posts are the most likely. Besides simple wear, the kiss of death is when someone tries to adjust the height of their Floyd when they're under pressure.
