Hamer check guitar strap?

I seem to remember seeing that a checkered black/white guitar strap used to come free with a new US Hamer. I don't know where I read this. Is this true?

Cheers for the ads Ken. I'm getting a black/white check strap anyway. Sure I read somewhere that they came with a Hamer (I may be wrong - maybe I dreamt it). I have seen lots of old(er) pics with Hamer guitar/check strap combo...

What you got "free" with a new Hamer purchase back then, was a personalized, engraved bell truss rod cover. There was a little card that you filled out with whatever name or goofy thing you wanted to have engraved on there, and then you sent that back in. Several weeks later, your personalized TRC arrived in the mail.

The straps, as far as I know, were always a separate accessory.

The last bunch of them I purchased in '87 or '88 were $10 each. I tried to order more a month or so later and Frank U. told me that they were totally sold out...FOREVER!!!

They did have some neon orange straps though, but I think I bought a T-shirt or something instead.

That explains the "It's Green" TRC on a green Special/Sunburst I've seen around these parts.

Ahh! That seems to have cleared that up. Cheers
