Victor (Fret Friend) Posted October 4, 2010 Posted October 4, 2010 Cheers for posting this cos I was gonna ask the same. Just bought a 1990 Cent & the wiring is all but how it should be (see below). The volume pot has been replaced with a 250k Dimarzio. I'm gonna completely re-wire & re-pot this (I have 1 vol 500k & 1 tone 500k left over from a project I scrapped). If anyone wants to post a pic of their wiring in a US Hamer (1 x SC + 1 x HB) I'd appreciate it. I do have a .pdf of how the wiring should be but I can't make out the values of the caps/resistor etc TIA, Vic...
Bennyboy-UK Posted October 4, 2010 Posted October 4, 2010 Did you stick a NGD post up now its landed...?
Victor (Fret Friend) Posted October 4, 2010 Posted October 4, 2010 Did you stick a NGD post up now its landed...? Nah not yet mate. Was gonna fix up the wiring etc first. I did a mini follow-up on the original FS thread. Lovely sounding guitar & great player. Love it (Schaller FR too). Need to re-wire/re-pot/re-fret. Well pleased with it
gorch Posted October 5, 2010 Posted October 5, 2010 As far as I'm concerned Hamer did not re-invent the wheel though. They just follow standards as of 500k for either volume and tone for humbuckers and P90 and 250k for either volume and tone for single coils. There might be some mixture for power strats, but I'm not sure.
Armitage Posted October 5, 2010 Posted October 5, 2010 A lot of companies used 250k pots in Super Strats in the 80s... usually without a tone control though.
