Hamer Vanguard questions

There's a Vanguard on ebay now that caught my eye.

I haven't bid on it yet and not even sure if I will, so if someone else here wants to go for it, be my guest.

Questions:

1. What years were these made? I emailed the seller (he seems like a good guy) and said he would send me the serial number when he got home. I asked because he said he bought it new in 2010. Unless it's NOS, I'm not sure how he did that.

2. Weren't these all silver? It looks silver in the pics, but he said it was definitely metallic gold.

They were made from 1998 - 2001 or '02, IIRC.

I've never seen one in Metallic Gold, but I have seen a couple that were in the Metallic Silver that have yellowed uniformly, and definitely look gold. That's probably what's going on here.

They dropped the name "Vanguard" in the early '00s and it became the Artist Mahogany model. They also discontinued the sparkle/metalflake finishes shortly afterwards.

That is definitely one of the silver ones. I still have an '99 HB Silver Vanguard (sold the '00 p90 one).

That's a good price - If the seller has good communication, I'd say go for it!
