Is 1/2" birch plywood sufficient for a 112 cabinet if I use a 3/4" baffle?

I'm sure you could do it, but after all the bracing you'd be adding to keep it from resonating, you're probably better off building it all from 3/4" ply instead

I'd just go with the 3/4. I repaired a Damaged 4x12 this past summer and after seeing how they are put together and how the repiars went I would go with 3/4. I was able after searching through piles of birch plywood I found a piece that passed my QC checklist at my local Menards. I had to buy a sheet that had one section big enough to make my 2 piece back out of it.

The reason I'm asking is that I have 4 pieces of 2' x 4'. Seems like an nice way to use a couple pieces and just have to buy a thicker piece for the baffle.

Buy enough 3/4" (18.5mm) to do the back and the front baffle.

Use the 1/2" for the sides, top & bottom.

Sounds like a lot of work for something you can pick up cheap used... and homemade stuff seldomly has any resale value.

It's the thrill of the build.
