JamminJoe Posted August 30, 2005 Posted August 30, 2005 1996 Hamer Studio for sale. Super sound and excellent condition. Made in the US, uncommon tobacco sunburst finish, back and neck in black , carved maple top, wraparound tailpiece, belly cut for comfort, medium neck. All original, seymour duncan 59 in neck and JB pickup in bridge. Frets and action are in great shape. Excellent condition (9/10). There are only some minor cosmetic issues: A couple of small dings on top and on the edge. Just small dings the finish is not cracked at all. Minor buckle rash in the back - only light scratches. Nothing deep. The original case is a little banged up, but still functional (all latches fine). A couple of small areas where the finish has some hazing - for lack of a better description. I think this is a common problem on non-new hamers. All of these problems are visible only when closely inspecting the guitar, so they are all very minor.Pics below. Paypal accepted. $700 plus $25 shipping in US. http://home.comcast.net/~c_abella01/hamer/index.htmlThanks.
unfun 75 Posted August 31, 2005 Posted August 31, 2005 A couple of small areas where the finish has some hazing - for lack of a better description. Also known as, "hameritis."

iownit4 Posted August 31, 2005 Posted August 31, 2005 sweet guitar .. hmmm.................. I'm thinking !!!!!!!!!!!!
MCChris Posted August 31, 2005 Posted August 31, 2005 The wraparound Studios are my favorite Hamers and the best value going in the used market. Cool color.
Caddie Posted August 31, 2005 Posted August 31, 2005 Purty, veeeeeery purty. Where is the guitar located?Noonan
Nathan Posted August 31, 2005 Posted August 31, 2005 Cool color. No doubt. Love that, and I'm not even a burst finish kind of guy.
JamminJoe Posted August 31, 2005 Author Posted August 31, 2005 It's a nice finish. Classy, not as garish as some maple top sunbursts. This is definitely a nice sounding and playing guitar. No issues except the minor cosmetic ones noted above. It sounds great. The 59 and the JB is a great pickup combo - the 3 pickup settings are all very distinct and usable. I never had the urge to replace these pickups.I am located in Germantown, MD. If someone can pick this up, and there are no shipping and paypal fees (ie cash transaction), then the price is $675.Joe
Caddie Posted August 31, 2005 Posted August 31, 2005 Germantown, MD eh? You wouldn't be getting close to Chicago for any reason in the near future, wouldja? Wanna meet me halfway somewhere, like Columbus OH? ;-) Damn, I just hate buying (or selling for that matter) without at least a brief test drive. Thanks for the info & good luck with the sale. I suspect that little beauty will be spoken for by the end of the day.Noonan
JamminJoe Posted September 1, 2005 Author Posted September 1, 2005 The guitar is sold. Thanks a lot everyone. Hamers definitely rule. I hope to have one again. Hopefully I can find a good deal such as this
silentman Posted September 1, 2005 Posted September 1, 2005 I'm itchin to replace my '96 I sold a few year ago. That was a good one!
sw686blue Posted September 1, 2005 Posted September 1, 2005 When I saw the pix of this guitar, I just had to have it. I love tobacco burst guitars that have no red in the paint. Also, the fact that it had a wraparound bridge is a big plus. I really don't understand why Hamer doesn't go either TonePros wraparound or sustain blocks for all their models? Not only do they look better but you don't have to deal with the TOM falling off.

And how much do PRS Santanas go for? Crazy.
sw686blue Posted September 1, 2005 Posted September 1, 2005 GREAT score! Ever owned or played one of these before? If not, you my friend are in for a treat.Seven bills. And how much do PRS Santanas go for? Crazy. Chris,I recently pick up a, basically, NOS 1996 Artist with a wraparound bridge and I love it. In terms of bridge systems, it is by far my favorite. It is a great sounding guitar. I hated the pickups (Seth Lovers) and swapped them for '59s. Much, much better.I'm going to do the same to this guitar, that is, switch the Wilkinson for the TonePros. If the JB doesn't sound as good as a '59, well you guessed it, it's going too.Like I said, I love the tobacco burst. Looks gorgeous.I've played Santanas before and I wasn't that impressed. I'll probably get flamed for this, but, my Artist Mahogany will put any Santana to shame for about 1/4 the price.Nick
luiss Posted September 1, 2005 Posted September 1, 2005 Welcome to the club.Switching toTonepros is a great improvement as far as intonation concerns Nik,I did not like much wilkinson bridge feel(floating to me) .But if you change it ask for US measurements, not metric in '96 Hamers.
MCChris Posted September 1, 2005 Posted September 1, 2005 I'm going to do the same to this guitar, that is, switch the Wilkinson for the TonePros. If the JB doesn't sound as good as a '59, well you guessed it, it's going too. I recently put a Tonepros on mine. I too like the more substantial feel. I think you'll like the JB with the cover, which seems to tame some of the top end that keeps a lot of people from liking it.
JamminJoe Posted September 1, 2005 Author Posted September 1, 2005 I really liked the JB in the bridge - it was not icepicky at all (maybe because of the nickel cover). Nice and fat when clean. Slight honk when distorted - ideally there could be more honk when overdriven. The in-between clean setting between the 59 and JB is great. This is why I didn't want to tinker with the pickups.
