It is a 93 Special, tuning keys are labeled "Hamer" are these actually Schaller or grovers etc.?

Thanks much in advance.

Schallers.

They are known as "Hamer-branded Schallers" around here. :o

Many manufacturers (Gibson, PRS, etc.) have their own logo-imprinted inserts used on the OEM parts like these - it's very common to see.

Thanks for the info cmatthes. Decent tuners then I believe.

Loving my 1st Hamer.

perfectly good tuners. high end even, compared to those deluxe tuners that Gibson keeps putting on all of their guitars.

Hey tbones, fancy meeting you here. Your post on the other H forum helped stoke my interest in Hamer, should thank you.

After posting yesterday, I tried tuning my new used Hamer (it's been stable tuning wise since I got it home). Several tuners had some slop in them, tightened up the screws on the key handles, seems to have helped, they where pretty loose.

good to see yah! welcome to the club. And yeah, the schaller tuners can get a little sloppy after a while, especially if the keys are on loose. I have two 1993 hamers though, and haven't had any issues with the tuning on them. I checked my 1996 special, and it has schallers as well, but they aren't Hamer branded. My newport had the original grover imperials replaced with sperzel locking tuners. Why the hell they did'nt just get grover locking tuners and switch the tuning keys is beyond me. It would have been a "no-mod" modification. Now i've gotta look at the holes on the back of the peghead.
