My girlfriend and I are off on a mini-vacation to Sanibel Island from Saturday the 23rd through Wednesday the 27th.

Anyone in the Fort Myers area and/or any recommendations for music stores, entertainment, etc.

:D

Why did you not mention this Saturday? Ft. Myers is about 125miles south. Will you have transportation? If so Sunday or Tuesday I will have some free time. Come see the best Hamer shop in town. :D:D:D:D:D

Simply my favorite place!

Get up early, go to Bailey's General Store and get some fresh bakery goods and coffee, go back and wake her up with that!

Was down there (again) last summer with the family. I made a short trip into Ft. Myers to check out the guitar stores and bumped into a friend I used to jam with I haven't seen in 25 years. He was working at Guitar Center. GC is in a mall and pretty far out from town, however, it is kind of on your way back to the island, so you can make that your last stop on the way back.

There is a cool store in down town Ft. Myers called Real Guitars. Small place, but packed wall to wall with interesting vintage and newer stuff. Definitely worth a visit.

Were you looking for places to visit (Edison / Ford homes definitely should be on the list, definitely kayak/canoe through the Tarpon Bay refuge)? Places to eat (Bubble Room on Captiva Island [strange, but great], Doc Ford's [not the most "touristy" from the road, but fantastic food])? Also, Island Cow has one of the largest menus I've ever seen and is open for three meals a day 7 days a week.

I've got other recommendations depending on what you're looking for.

Sorry about that Gene. I forgot all about it on Saturday. We have a rental car, but my girlfriend is hoping to have "decompression time" and not do much other than sit by the pool or on the beach. A quick trip north might just work out though ;)

Thanks for the recommendation. I'll definitely do that. My girlfriend doesn't eat wheat and Bailey's has a 6-page gluten-free food list...she's pretty jazzed about that.

I am headed there later this year, what place are you talking about!

We're not actually staying on Sanibel. We're staying in a condo in Punta Rassa right near the bridge to Sanibel.

We're just going for a little R&R and probably won't do much touristy stuff, but the restaurants sound good. I'll definitely check out Real Guitars...place looks pretty cool...and pretty dangerous :D

After some Hamers, if we time it right, we can eat some burritos out at Treasure Island, watch the Sunset and have you back in Sanibel before 11 if that interests you and your fair maiden. Sunset will be about 8:05 on Sunday. That might be the deal unless you have Easter Sunday plans. Sunset on Easter though, Whoa, that is kinda Cool. HMMMM.

We don't have any definite plans for Sunday. Will the music store be open on Easter Sunday?
