International shipping

Question

Do anyone have any recommendations an international shipper for a solid body electric; I just got a quote from Fed ex for US $ 651 from the U.S. to Asia !! I'd be happy with anything up to the $ 300 mark, with hopefully delivery within 7 to 10 days, but most importantly I'd like a carrier with a good reputation for handling items with care ( the guitar will be professionally packed for international delivery in the States )

Thanks in advance Jaberwock

USPS -if Canada is "international enough" for you. ;) They also have a USPS Express service, which accepts higher insurances and delivers faster -but it's also more expensive, of course.

Edited to add: Noticed you said "Asia". No idea in that case.

EMS through the US Postal system has worked very well for me to Europe.

Thanks, can you remember how much was it, and how long did it take ?

It seems Fed ex radically increase their price if the package exceeds a certain length.

I shipped a guitar, case (rectangle type) fully padded, etc.

To the Netherlands for about $170. ish.... I think....

Price was around that figure.

Very true. If it's bigger than the 45x18x6 box, the price more than doubles is shipping within the US. I would expect it does the same for int'l shipping.

U.S.P.S. EMS would not accept my package, 44" x17" x7", as it was too large; DHL are quoting anything from $ 220 to $ 300 plus depending on the declared value of the contents, but it is delivered within two days !!

Be warned the days of reasonably priced international sipping are over; I had to pay $ 417.00 (and that required me dropping the insurable value way down to 400 bucks to get that ) from Austin to Taiwan, this was the cheapest price I could find after checking FEDEX, USPS, DHL, and UPS.
