Bloozguy Posted August 4, 2011 Posted August 4, 2011 It’s time to thin the amplifier herd just a little. ADA Rocket A20R 1x12 Combo #1 These super-rare 20 watt class A combos have been called “the poor man’s Matchless.” With 1 x12AX7 and 1 x EL34 they give you 20 watts of all-tube Class A power into a vintage style 12” Eminence speaker. Nothing fancy here…just great tone. Treble, Mid, Bass and Volume controls plus Reverberation for control of the all-tube reverb Bright, Gain and Power Amp Thrust switches to boost high end, increase preamp gain and change the power amp feedback to give you a “looser” or “tighter” feel. Cool burgundy vinyl covered 3/4-inch solid plywood cabinet with 1940's grille cloth, all nickel plated hardware and real leather strap handle. It’s 20.5” wide, 20.5” high, 15.25” deep and only 43 pounds. The amp sounds great, and is in excellent condition electronically and cosmetically except for a little wear on the leather strap handle (still sturdy enough to haul the amp around) and a couple little snags in the grille cloth. More photos here $500.00 PayPal’d and shipped within CONUS. No trades please. ADA Rocket A20R 1x12 Combo #2 Same description as above except for a little more wear on the leather strap handle (once again, still sturdy enough to haul the amp) and it’s missing the original pilot light jewel. It’s a different thread than the standard Fender style so the one that’s on there is just pressed into the housing. More photos here $450.00 PayPal’d and shipped within CONUS. No trades please. George Dennis Mighty Mouse™ Mark II 30W 1x12 Combo This little screamer is hand made by George Dennis LTD in the Czech Republic. Three 12AX7 preamp tubes, four EL84 power tubes, channel switching and reverb controlled by a 2-button footswitch, effects loop, XLR DI out, 12” Celestion Vintage 30. At only 19.1” high x 17.3” wide x 8.3” deep it’s a perfect little “grab and go” amp but it weighs a whopping 52 pounds and is probably the loudest 30 watts you’ll ever hear. More information here: George Dennis Mighty Mouse Mark II Just back from Savage Audio where they installed and biased a matched quartet of JJ EL84 power tubes, replaced the first and second stage 12AX7 preamp tubes, cleaned and re-tensioned all tube sockets, and cleaned and tightened all controls, jacks, transformers and circuit boards The last list price on these was over $1,100.00 More photos here $500.00 PayPal’d and shipped in the CONUS. No trades please. Mesa Maverick 1x12 Combo w/Mesa EVM12 Thiele Cabinet and Cellini ATA Flight Case - SOLD Seymour Duncan Convertible 100 1x12 Combo w/10 modules I love this amp, but it’s a loud, heavy beast and I never have a chance to put it to good use. This is a 100 watt all tube combo with 2 switchable channels, spring reverb and a 100 watt 12” speaker. It has a 5U4 rectifier tube, 4 x EL34 power tubes, 2 x 12AX7 and 1 x 12AU7 along with whatever tubes are in the modules you install. But that’s not all folks… This amp has interchangeable preamp modules making it an all-tube forerunner to the “modeling” amps of today. Included with the amp are 10 modules: 3 Normal, 3 Classic, 2 Hi-Gain Tube, 1 Presence and 1 Solid State. Modules alone are selling on eBay for $40 to $80 each. This amp uses unique “load resistor plugs” to match its input impedance to many different types of guitar pickups from standard electromagnetic pickups to low impedance pickups, piezo transducers, and electromagnetic acoustic pickups. Included with the amp are two plugs, a 500K and a 1MEG. The Convertible 100 also has a continuously variable wattage output control allowing you to select from 5 to 100 watts in pentode mode or 3 to 60 watts in triode mode. You can also control this with a passive volume pedal. It’s not actually true variable power but more like a different sort of master volume control. Another unique feature of the Convertible is “Variable Damping.” This changes the amount of control the amplifier has on the speaker. High damping increases control of the speaker and gives you a crisper, tighter sound. Low damping decreases control of the speaker and gives you a looser, fatter sound with more presence. There is a dedicated “Variable Damping Out” speaker jack for this. Jeff Beck endorsed the Convertible back in the late 1980’s. The Convertible 100 is 19.75” high, 18.78” wide, 11.38” deep and weighs 57 lbs. More photos here $450.00 PayPal’d and shipped in CONUS. No trades please.
JGale Posted August 4, 2011 Posted August 4, 2011 Oh My God, I'm just sick over those TWO Rockets. So rare. So beautiful. Swoon!
Jim P Posted August 12, 2011 Posted August 12, 2011 Man, that SD Convertible looks exactly like the one I owned when I lived in the Twin Cities. There weren't too many of them around town at the time, either. I believe Paul Metsa had the only other one that I knew of. Do you suppose that one could've been mine....or Paul's?EDIT: Just to add, the Convertible I had was a great amp! It was heavy, but it had some great mojo going for it!

django49 Posted August 13, 2011 Posted August 13, 2011 Had a Maverick and let it go before we moved cross country. Not sure how I can justify another amp, but it should be killer with that Thiele cab.

django49 Posted August 22, 2011 Posted August 22, 2011 Oh man.......I just picked up a 1 x 12 Blue Angel locally. (Do I really NEED four more el-84s?) And I built my own Thiele/EVM cab. If I just had more space and a bigger budget......
Bloozguy Posted September 19, 2011 Author Posted September 19, 2011 Mesa Maverick, Thiele & flight case SOLD!
gtone Posted October 10, 2011 Posted October 10, 2011 Can't believe those Rockets are still available - they're supposed to be bangin' little amps.
