Poorly Machined Floyd Fine Tuners?

I have a new guitar with an import type Floyd that the fine tuners do not turn smoothly on due to what I'm guessing is poor machining (?). Will it be harmful (helpful?) to hit the threads with WD?

Wouldn't it be more helpful to chase them with a tap?

If I had mad skills, certainly!

Sometimes, what happens,

The bottom of the fine tuners are swedged (?)

to keep them from falling out, losing them.

Some people try to turn them out, thinking

that they can back them out, but, consequently

permanently destroying the threaded fine tuner and

threaded plate area.

Remove the bridge from the guitar,

Either thread oil, mobil one,

keep working the Fine tuners till they seat better,

soak up excess oils, clean up with a little naptha,

reinstall

They are swedged, for sure. I worked 'em in for a while, they seem better. Maybe the Black paint was part of the issue. When I have time I will definately go with the oil/work/clean sugestion above. Thanks!

Could very well be that. We use oversize taps if a part is to be hard anodized, powder coated, zinc or chrome plated, etc. It tends to build up on threads, and powder paint is a bitch to get through without doing some damage. Tough stuff.
