Bobby Marshall Posted February 14, 2012 Posted February 14, 2012 I have played a standard for a 3 set show and it was fantastic. You have to play them standing up as electric guitars are meant to be played. You definitely need buy in from the wife as she will definitely know it is not one she has seen you play before. I actually almost always play standing up. I just don't like the design, and tried out a beautiful aztec gold standard at a forum meetup last august. I kept going back to my studio. The owner of the standard has something like 4 Hamer studios, a few specials, a vector, etc.I bought a Dean MP once and unloaded a month later, but the Hamer Standard just feels right for me. But then again so do my other Hamers and guitars. Strange how we bond with some guitars and not others, even when they are similar on paper. I can't stand Ibanez or Jackson guitars. They look fine but just don't feel right to me. Back on topic, someone probably had a major score with this one. Congrats to the new owner.
custom53 Posted February 16, 2012 Posted February 16, 2012 It's been a while for me to post anything, but I had to say something about this guitar..Doesn't the "USA" look a little odd...? Maybe like it was an import with "USA" put on later...Maybe it's just me... But it would explain the low price also...

I've had mid-late 90's Hamers and the "USA" font has varied from the normal 'skinny' to the 'plus-sized' font like that one. The stamped serial number looks right to me too.Somebody got a deal - even if you hate EMGs (I don't) it's still reasonable with a pickup swap.edited due to lack of coffee - there's a diff between 'too' and 'though'. Fixed.
