polara Posted February 12, 2012 Posted February 12, 2012 Tempting but after putting decent pickups back in and considering the serious dings it has, it's not a steal. Just a good price.
whiskeyzulu Posted February 12, 2012 Posted February 12, 2012 "The stock pickups were not really good at all and EMG'S were added"
tbonesullivan Posted February 12, 2012 Posted February 12, 2012 UGH. I wonder if the routes were buggered up adding the EMGs. I hate seeing good guitars get messed up by idiots. If the stock pickups weren't sounding good, then they weren't being put through a good amp.
murkat Posted February 12, 2012 Posted February 12, 2012 But, he gets rave reviews on his single coil pickups He winds and sells..... for a guy who can wind up some pickups, but puts EMG's in a guitar, then atempts to sell.... mmmmmm
tbonesullivan Posted February 12, 2012 Posted February 12, 2012 I don't get that. Why not just wind some others? Maybe he's selling it for someone else.I mean, I've always wanted a standard, just to have one. But I tried out a friends and the body shape is just not for me. I'll stick with my newport and Studio and specials.

singlehum Posted February 12, 2012 Posted February 12, 2012 Already a thread on that one...http://www.hamerfanclub.com/forums/topic/53110-fleabay-1250-standard-bin/
polara Posted February 12, 2012 Posted February 12, 2012 Contacted the seller. Seems nice, and says when he passed the Duncans along to someone else they sounded like shit in another guitar, too. Said he is not usually an EMG fan but they work well in this guitar.I have a Custom Custom sitting around. Fiddy bucks for a 59, ditch the push-pull... I'm thinking....
Motorhead Posted February 12, 2012 Posted February 12, 2012 Do it! I have a 97, the neck is far from "fat an meaty" the 98 on the bay doesn't look that big in the pic's? best of luck Contacted the seller. I'll stick with my newport and Studio and specials.I have played a standard for a 3 set show and it was fantastic. You have to play them standing up as electric guitars are meant to be played. You definitely need buy in from the wife as she will definitely know it is not one she has seen you play before.

I actually almost always play standing up. I just don't like the design, and tried out a beautiful aztec gold standard at a forum meetup last august. I kept going back to my studio. The owner of the standard has something like 4 Hamer studios, a few specials, a vector, etc.

sledhead44 Posted February 14, 2012 Posted February 14, 2012 Is the economy that bad? Wouldn't someone have picked this up at that price even without pickups a few years ago?Has anyone thought that they could resell those pickups on ebay probably for the same price as whatever pickups they choose to put in it?
BTMN Posted February 14, 2012 Posted February 14, 2012 Wish I wasn't broke at the moment, I woulda hit that BIN hard when I saw it posted earlier. Hope someone cool bought it.
