They brought the company back, but really haven't been gaining much headway into getting back into the trem mainstream.There's a trem mainstream?

I was playing four to six nights a week, across fourteen states, and two $1100 Jacksons were way out of my budget. (that was a lot of money back then - my brand new GTI payment was only $200 a month) No whammy on your guitars to play all the current stuff? That's OK - they would just hire someother guy, and you could just go back to wherever you came from...I bought one for a Les Paul, and another for a Mockingbird, and still have no regrets, The guy who put one on my 4-digit Standard probably had to eat, too. These things are (albeit beautiful) screwdrivers/paintbrushes. Tools to inspire us to do what we do. One man's horrific kahler mod is no worse to some guitar guys than (shudder) non-original solder joints.I hope the owner enjoys the crap out of that Kahlered Sunburst. It could just have been much more easily stripped for parts, and the broken body thrown in a dumpster.

The going rate for installation of a Kahler in the '80s was $100. A router from Sears was $30. That's why there are so many hack jobs - just like all the 60s and 70s strats routed for a humbucker with a hammer and screwdriver.
