Hamer Chaparral 1989 emg question

Hi, i'm a new owner of a 1989 chaparral and I love it :) I will post some pictures in a few days! the question I'm having is about the fretboard, mine has maple fretboard and sins I havent seen that on any other chaparral i was wondering if this is a custom order?

I payed around 700$ for it, is that an ok price?

They just probably forgot to paint the fingerboard. Probably a Friday, and they didn't want to wait for the paint to dry. :D

You answered the question. It's a maple fingerboard. Maybe not as popular as ebony (which I'd prefer), but they're out there. I've seen them before. The neck on those should also be maple, with a mahogany body wood. The maple board may be a bit brighter?

ok, thanks :) about the brightness, I haven't played one with ebony or rosewood but this one sounds killer :)

Looks like a non-factory scallop job...

$700 is a fair price, IMHO - if it's a cool guitar and you like it, it's worth it! :)

Is the fingerboard scalloped? Can't see in photo. Looks like flame maple? Nice.

Could be right - i couldn't see the inlays on the lower frets, which is why i thought it was scalloped...

Mmmm... Scallops.
