hectorp Posted December 16, 2012 Posted December 16, 2012 Just curious. I like the BBQ...but it can sound a shade thuddy compared with a Duncan Custom Custom, e.g.
BubbaVO Posted December 16, 2012 Posted December 16, 2012 Consider changing the capacitor value if you like the taper of the current pot. For more info: http://www.premierguitar.com/Magazine/Issue/2008/Mar/Auditioning_Tone_Capacitors.aspx
bubs_42 Posted December 16, 2012 Posted December 16, 2012 Let me know what you come up with. I could not get along with the BBQ, I had to set up my rig for THAT pickup and switching to another guitar was just troublesome. Ton's of Muscle is what they should call it.
Armitage Posted December 17, 2012 Posted December 17, 2012 If you want to try what a 1 meg pot'll sound like before ripping your pot out and all, you can solder in a 500k resistor (or 470k, real close) in a second and see. Just disconnect where to pickup hooks up to your pot and solder it to one end of the resistor and the other back to the pot. You won't be able to turn it off all the way, but you'll hear the sound of resonant peak of the pickup rise, without all the bother. If you want to hear going to a 250k pot, just solder the resistor across the two furthest tabs on your pot, you don't have to disconnect anything, and if you like it, you can just leave it there. On 10 and 0 it's identical, it may change your taper, but you may even like it better...
