Disturber Posted October 20, 2005 Posted October 20, 2005 I've got a hame cali elite andis planing to change the tremolo from loyd rose to ibanez edge pro, can I do this? will it fit? 'Why would you want to do that? Blasphemy!
adzer Posted October 20, 2005 Author Posted October 20, 2005 becasue they keep the tuning better and got a lower profile wich I like
darc Posted October 20, 2005 Posted October 20, 2005 I've wondered the same thing. (Especially after seeing a lo-pro Edge w/ piezos on eBay a couple of months back. I would have fought harder for it if I *knew* it would work.)
Jeff R Posted October 20, 2005 Posted October 20, 2005 I'm not keen on the Ibanez Edge bar assembly (I prefer the finger-tight drag adjustment instead of those nylon washers), but the bridge itself is great. I've never had a saddle clamp crack/split/break or get locked up inside the saddle, or had the intonation screws strip, which often happens with the Schallers.
Guest JackButler Posted October 20, 2005 Posted October 20, 2005 Any "Lo-Pro" type of assembly will require routing the cavity a little more for it to fit. Tobereeno as modded all of his for a Floyd "Lo-Pro" as posted here before and he had to have the cavity modded.
cloakerz Posted October 21, 2005 Posted October 21, 2005 I have an ibanez edge trem in a centaura/chapperal parts guitar I made up. Had to do a little routing but not much to make it fit.
HAMERMAN Posted October 21, 2005 Posted October 21, 2005 Are the posts compatible (and the post spacing is correct) or were new ones put in?

I do prefer the low profile stuff, but I'm pretty sure Ibanez bridges won't match the post spacing. Floyd Pro bridges will, but you will have to A: switch the block as the stock Floyd Pro block is too long, and B: rout out the trem cavity from the top. It's not too hard but you need a good router and you'll have to take off about 1/16" on the back end and increase the depth a good 1/2" or more.I do like the Ibanez ZR trem, but that would take even more surgery to fit. The Floyd Pro is an excellent bridge, and is a lot more solid and well built that the Ibanez versions. I've never had even the slightest issue with one (which is more than I can say about the Schaller Floyds!)edited to add: don't quote me on the post spacing thing, frankly I don't know for sure!
