FR Locking nut shims

Question

Posted

I've seen all manner of matter used to shim locking nuts but generally understand brass to be best for limited tonal reduction.

What say the experts?

Dare I use a cut up thin guitar pick or do I pull the trigger on a set of official shims from Stew Mac or the like?

Dare I use a cut up thin guitar pick?

DON'T be like Weird Al Yankovic and, "Dare To Be Stupid."

Or, do I pull the trigger on a set of official shims from Stew Mac or the like?

DO pull that trigger, spend the cash and put your mind at ease.

If you're handy with thin, brass sheets, you COULD go to the hobby store and buy a few in varying thicknesses and fashion your own...but why, in Gawd's name would you want to ever do that?
