Please, please, please promise this won't be your Japan flag Cali...

Cynic, normally I tell you to ignore Nathan ;) but in this case, I agree - that O'Conner finish is unique. Not too many of them, either I'm guessing,

He's referring to a plan I have for a FM Cali I'm letting him hold onto (for now ;)). Alternating clear and trans red Rising Sun over flame maple. :o

Don't worry, the finish on this one is staying as is :)

???? You could always pick up a beat Cali and have someone add a FM veneer to it? Rather than abuse an original FM Cali (I have a sweet spot for 'em).

Wouldn't that take away from the sonic properties of the FM? I'm no cork sniffer but my experience with FM's vs.Hog is that there is a discernible difference in the tones.

The one in question has irreversible mods already, so it's the perfect candidate. The veneer idea wouldn't work anyway as the idea includes the front/sides/back.

Unfortunately, before I can have the finish "improved" I have to wait for Nathan to tire of it.

Tick-tock Nathan! :)

Of all the folks who would encourage someone else NOT to mod a guitar - especially a Cali... :P

I'm not sure I even can tire of this one. I know it didn't really grab you, but it hits the tonal sweet spot for my ear.
