killerteddybear Posted April 14, 2014 Posted April 14, 2014 So...a few weeks ago I was browsing my local craigslist (San Diego) and I happen across aKen Smith 6-string bass for $1000.Of course this is like dangling dope infront of your local junkie, so I replied back asap. Here's the reply email that I received:From: James Franco <[email protected]>Sent: Sunday, March 23, 2014 2:41 PMTo: lposavadSubject: Re: Re: Ken Smith Bass (craigslist)Hey ,I just sold out this to someone, but I can tell you where I got it from.I just picked up 4 of these from www.muchproduct.com and I resold them on here for some extramoney. The trick is to watch for bidding to slow down and then put in a bid. That's what I do and I win all thetime.Best RegardsJames DeanSent from my LG Smartphone on SprintAmazing. James Dean returned from the dead to hijack James Franco's email account to scam me! I feel so important!Ther's been a spate of these craigslist ads since then. You can tell them by: a. Silly low prices on quality gear; and b. the contact info is always somegirliename (at) gmail(dot) com. Spambots ho!Anyone else see these types of ads in their burbs?
stratacus Posted April 14, 2014 Posted April 14, 2014 I received a similar reply on a Yamaha Stage Custom drum set a few months ago. Ridiculous price of $250.
hamerhead Posted April 15, 2014 Posted April 15, 2014 They've been hitting here for the past month or month and a half. Same thing: ads always have a stupid low oddball price on collector gear and SomeCommonName@Gmail.They get flagged pretty much instantly and have thinned down quite a bit of late, but one nearly got me with an old Fender amp. Dammit.
mrjamiam Posted April 15, 2014 Posted April 15, 2014 Thanks for the BOLO! I haven't seen one yet, but now I'll recognize it if I do.
Sugartune Posted April 15, 2014 Posted April 15, 2014 Jerks! How mean spirited to dangle those carrots.
