LucSulla Posted April 20, 2014 Posted April 20, 2014 Are there any other drop-in, non locking replacements for a Floyd Rose besides the Schaller Vintage Trems? I'm looking at converting my Charvel to just a standard tremolo but don't want to do anything that can't be undone.
veatch Posted April 20, 2014 Posted April 20, 2014 Will the Gotoh 510 series 2 post trems drop in? Non-locking, and I've been really happy with mine.
LucSulla Posted April 20, 2014 Author Posted April 20, 2014 Unfortunately, no. It's still 56mm between studs.
murkat Posted April 20, 2014 Posted April 20, 2014 yeah...schaller replacement, or an original non fine tuner floyd is about it out there at this time.
AdmiralB Posted April 21, 2014 Posted April 21, 2014 The G&L bridge is *really* close - like within 1mm - to Floyd insert spacing. Don't know if it'll work with Floyd pivot posts, though.
Tres Aardvarks Posted April 21, 2014 Posted April 21, 2014 waitwaitwait, you mean THIS is a direct drop in replacement for a Floyd? If so, why don't people that hate Floyds but have shreddy guitars get them? Or maybe the question is where would you get one?
atquinn Posted April 21, 2014 Posted April 21, 2014 Or maybe the question is where would you get one?Yes, that's the question. Difficult to find and very expensive if you can get one.-Austin

diablo175 Posted April 23, 2014 Posted April 23, 2014 Why would anyone want to replace a Floyd? Unless it was with another, newer, more better-er Floyd!
Tres Aardvarks Posted April 23, 2014 Posted April 23, 2014 Why would anyone want to replace a Floyd? Unless it was with another, newer, more better-er Floyd! Well, I can only speak for myself, but I fell in love with guitar during the shredder days. Since until a couple years ago I was strictly a rhythm player, I never used the Floyds. Hell, I don't even know where half of the bars are for my guitars. Anyway, every one of my Hamers has a Floyd, and I'd rather they didn't. Most are blocked, but they are still a pain to intonate or restring. Hence - I want a drop in replacement
diablo175 Posted April 23, 2014 Posted April 23, 2014 Oh. A rhythm player. One of those types, eh? For the record, I was being facetious in my initial post. Mostly, anyway...

Well, seeing as how I was a bass player (yeah, one of THOSE types) I didn't worry about lead..that changed when suddenly I was playing lead with my buddies! and yes, I know you were being facetious...now stop using big words!!
LucSulla Posted April 24, 2014 Author Posted April 24, 2014 I love my Charvel, and I like the FR sometimes. Most of the time though, I don't. Eyeballing an ebanol nut first. At least I can tune to drop D without feeling like a teenager training to unhook his first bra.
