Help me figure out an easy guitar part? Bodeans' She's a Runaway

I don't know why I'm having so much trouble with this one, but I need to figure out the lead guitar parts to the Bodeans' song "She's a Runaway".

It's an easy tune - three chords (A, D and E) with a couple suspended 2nds and 4ths as embellishments.

For some reason, I'm not hearing what the lead player is doing - I know it's easy, but I'm at the point where I'm starting to develop muscle memory doing the wrong things.

Any one know this one who can point me in the right direction?

Thanks

He's doin' a John Fogerty sort of a thing. If you know "Lodi" by CCR or the solo for "Bad Moon Rising"... that's where the guitarist's head is at.

He starts off with a sort of double stop lick that's low on the guitar... that's the only non-chord lick he plays.

The E chord stuff with the pull-offs is only using the index on the G# on the 1st fret and pulling off to that with or just the open E and B strings.

The D chord starts off where you hammer on the A note on the G string to the B note (hammer on 2nd to 3rd fret while holding the 3rd fret B string (D) and open E string)

The A note is suspended a bit and again, the fifth and octave notes are raised a whole step with a slide and then the raised fifth is brought back down... same thing with the D chord. It's a pentatonic riff that I happen to use a lot.

Great song, great album.

I was listening to it just last week. I'd once figured out the opening lick, but it's been a while.
