Guest gearwhore Posted May 1, 2014 Posted May 1, 2014 I put an offer on it, but it was shot downso your one and my 2...thats it the only offers.
The Shark Posted May 1, 2014 Posted May 1, 2014 Sunburst with dots is boring to me unless it's a pre-1980. The sunburst finishes don't look as good-too washed out and less vibrant in most cases.Yes. They look like the early eighties specials. Not as "deep" and kind of more satin as they aged.
matchful Posted May 1, 2014 Posted May 1, 2014 I'd say market for a plain Jane later (80/81 on) dot Standard is $3000-4500. Crowns would add $750-1000. 79s-add $1k; add $1.5-2k for a '78, older than that- whatever the seller asks for (sub-100 numbers). Kahlers-take 1/2 off.Condition dictates but so does what else is available when someone with the cash is ready to buy. My guess is that they won't be going down in price anytime soon.I offered 2k and denied.
matchful Posted May 1, 2014 Posted May 1, 2014 $5,500 is still WAY high for that one.which is why I am not standing up to reach a little further. all though I would really like to find an 81..to go with my specials. I think you could find a much nicer one for that kind of scratch....
Brentrocks Posted May 1, 2014 Posted May 1, 2014 I put an offer on it, but it was shot downso your one and my 2...thats it the only offers.my offer was a little more offensive....$2900. its fun to dream that it will be accepted
Floridasam Posted May 1, 2014 Posted May 1, 2014 Whoever's interested should tell the seller that Floridasam picked HIS up for $675, AND it had a Kahler, so he needs to drop the price even more than that since it doesn't have the trem.

Well lets see them...whos got 81-82 standard for sale with no kahler for $2500-3500...I am seriously looking I put an offer on it, but it was shot down so your one and my 2...thats it the only offers. my offer was a little more offensive....$2900. its fun to dream that it will be accepted wasnt much higher..$3000 was my top offer
HSB0531 Posted May 2, 2014 Posted May 2, 2014 It's definitely not the prettiest, and I don't think he's serious about that price - I think he's open to reasonable offers. I've heard nothing but good things about him as a seller though. He usually has pretty cool stuff up... I'm curious what he finally gets for it, 'cus mine is only 6 digits off and a much purdier bass version (0531 vs. 0537) Also: 0537 has the narrowly spaced 12th. fret dot markers. Mine: 0531 has the wider spaced markers. I'm guessing then, the transition was right in between these two?
cynic Posted May 2, 2014 Posted May 2, 2014 There wasn't a clean "everything from XXXX and higher" transition for the dot spacing. 0227 left the factory in '79 with narrow octave dots.
