Value of a Guild Starfire III

Citrus

Question

Posted

Took a good look at the guitars in the closet that have not seen play time in quite a while, and decided that its time to let some go and get some use.

I have a Guild Starfire 3 which is in the 60-62 range

It has the White DeArmonds and a bigsby, and is faded to an almost brown.

Has the original case(quite beat, but functional)

Guitar itself is in about 7.5/10. It has a small ding on the back of the neck, and a scratch on the top, but for its age is in great shape. All original, plays great, but I just don't want to play it out, for fear of doing some damage. I don't do any recording, so I think it should go. Had it tuned up a couple years back by a guy who used to be a Guild Employee - Flip Scipio. He used to do repairs at mandolin bros, and has since openend his own repair and building business. He loved it and gave his "stamp of approval"

Anyone know the book value? Approx?

Pretty sure that was Joe Perry's first "real" guitar (when Mom didn't get the Gibson-"the Guild will do fine").

What a timely post.

Took the wife for my annual concert to see Pat Benatar and Neil "Spyder James" Giraldo.

Giraldo’s current favorite axe is a ’68 Guild Starfire dubbed “Pain".

Bonus was finally seeing John Waite in concert.

Nice guitar btw. I would search similar sold on ebay to get an idea and go from there.

Best wishes,

Some pics I snapped while checking out Neil Geraldo's guitar rack backstage at Wolf Trap, 2013.
