replacement bridge and tailpiece on a 2002 MonEl

Question

I know its been asked, but I'm still confused. I would like to replace the current chrome set up with nickel, possibly aged, to match my aged nickel HB covers, and was thinking I would replace with better than stock, most likely Faber. Am I right in looking at metric from the tailpiece and standard for the bridge? So confusing, especially when looking at the different ToneLok options. Has anyone done this that can make my life easier and tell me what I need to order to do a soup-to-nuts swap.

Much thanks in advance, I'm so damn confused my head is spinning.

I'm so damn confused my head is spinning.

Is your head spinning clockwise or counter clockwise? Is it cross threading with your C1 vertebrae? Open your wallet, Euros or In God We Trust?

So, no one here has hot rodded their late model Hamer? Really?

Okay, since its obviously above you all to accept such a thing, can anyone at least tell me why they went Gotoh Tailpiece and Schaller bridge, and it they are indeed SAE tailpiece, metric bridge, what was the purpose? Better string alignment?

I don't remember any of my USA Hamers being metric in any way. So, I suppose there is no mix up between metric and non metric on the bridge and tailpiece.

The MIK Standard, I think, was pure metric. However, it's years I had been changing anything in that area.

The search feature is your friend. ;) According to some other posts, standard for the tune-o-matic and metric for the stoppie (for USA Hamers).

I've used Faber's Insert posts with the stock TOM and I like them alot. If the quality of their other products is like the Insert then they make some good shit.

If you create an account with them you get a discount on your first order... don't recall if it was 5 or 10%.

Thanks triodecr, but as you can see from the threads you linked, this is a very murky territory that no one seems able to address with any definitiveness, hence my reason to reach out in the first place. I would like to replace with nickel, not just for aesthetics, but for the better bridge as well, regardless of whether I go with TonePros or Faber.

Hopefully someone can come along who can give me a straight answer without judgement as to why I am asking the question in the first place.

I see multiple people saying the bridge is SAE and the tail piece is metric. Maybe you could just measure what you have?
