filtre_ Posted June 27, 2015 Posted June 27, 2015 I do not know much about Schecter but like this guitar that is for sale on a Swiss auction site. The seller does not seem to know much about the instrument, so I wonder if anybody here can help me. My research on the net has not led to any useful clues yet. I wonder which this guitar was produced and where and possible what the model name is. The Schecter decal on the headstock looks vintage but misses the trademark TM, Serial number on the back plate is 6-digit and seems to read 891014. Body seems to be quilted maple, maple neck with rosewood or even ebony fingerboard. carfish7 Posted June 27, 2015 Posted June 27, 2015 Looks like an early model from when they went back to small production in California . I would guess it is from 1989 and is likely a very high-quality piece. I had a couple from that era and they were FAR superior to the Dallas -era bits. Pretty much on par with an Anderson or other small-volume builder's work IMHO. They switched to the "beak" shaped headstock a bit later on, but when production went to Cali again after the ESP dude bought the company the early pieces had the Fender headstock shape.
Biz Prof Posted June 27, 2015 Posted June 27, 2015 It's no Scharter... ...and it's no Sphincter, either.
zorrow Posted June 27, 2015 Posted June 27, 2015 I like the look; it's like a mix of a Strat, a Diablo and a Centaura. No idea how good it is though. Never been into Schecter guitars.
Bennyboy-UK Posted June 27, 2015 Posted June 27, 2015 Doing the maths, that looks to be a great deal. About 680 quid at the buy it now, if that's what it is.I'd be tempted to just buy it, based on the spec and materials, I can't think you would lose.

Sounds like this guitar is a rare bird.Did yours also have a 6-digit serial number on the neck plate? This auction is cash only and pick-up only. The seller lives 20 min. away from where I live - so I will give it a shot.
carfish7 Posted June 28, 2015 Posted June 28, 2015 Mine did have the same serial # scheme but started with "91" and I found the build date inked on the body confirmed it was made in 1991. I'd scoop that in a heartbeat if it is under $1K. Well, if it didn't have a Floyd anyway.
zorrow Posted June 28, 2015 Posted June 28, 2015 According to their site, that guitar very probably is a 1989:http://www.schecterguitars.com/international/about/faqAgain, it looks awesome. I would aim at it and fire -well, if I was into shredders.
carfish7 Posted June 28, 2015 Posted June 28, 2015 Schecter is also very responsive to inquiries about their older stuff. Give them a message maybe?
slipstream Posted July 5, 2015 Posted July 5, 2015 I have a strat style from 86 Dallas era. Back then the serial number had an "A" prefix and there is no TM on the logo.
foxyguitars Posted July 6, 2015 Posted July 6, 2015 hi, it's an 1989 schecter made in japan , built by ESPnice quality guitar
