Has some cool vintage stuff, but tries to talk anyone OUT of buying any of it because he's not GC and can't easily replenish his stock when something goes away. His income is lessons and repairs and accessories - yet he wonders why he can't heat the place in the winter.... From what Atomicwash found, I'm betting my Cert is in a filing-cabinet there, and I need to pay them a visit and MAKE them look for it.
cmatthes Posted March 18, 2016 Posted March 18, 2016 There's the world's shittiest guitar dealer in Catonsville, MD who operates under the same concept. He has tons of cool gear, but it's often priced at double the market, and nothing ever moves. I last set foot in his shop almost 15 years ago with every intention of buying a black B-12A that he had listed for 2-3 years. The bass was there, with a layer of dust, and although I was the only customer in the place, it took almost 15 minutes to get anybody's attention. When I asked about trying out the bass, he said something like, "yeah...we just have that one listed on the stocklist and in the ads to generate traffic. It's not really for sale or anything". I've heard that same refrain from at least a couple dozen other people over the years, so guess his thrill in life is just jerking people around. I have zero tolerance for assclown dealers - there are far too many other guys out there I'd prefer to patronize.
django49 Posted March 18, 2016 Posted March 18, 2016 ^^^^^^ At least a bit like some car dealers......A great deal on a car that is advertised, but they will do almost anything to AVOID selling it to you.....It has a few features that are a bit less than average. To the point they would have to "special order" another. And if you press, they will admit as much. They do not want the hassle with the factory. If you are not disgusted and walk away, you just MIGHT be able to get a "better" one from their stock for not a lot more. But they sure waste your time getting there. I am getting too old to put up with that.
