diablo175 Posted July 22, 2016 Posted July 22, 2016 Can an input jack from an active pickup set be used for passives if the battery lead is disconnected?
mrjamiam Posted July 22, 2016 Posted July 22, 2016 I would think so. I believe all the battery lead is doing there is grounding to complete a circuit when the cord is plugged in, else it's not being drained to provide juice to the active pickups/EQ. It's acting like an on/off switch. I don't believe the jack itself cares about impedance. But surely others will speak up if I'm wrong, and probably even if not.
Jeff R Posted July 22, 2016 Posted July 22, 2016 Yes, third lug is an on-off for the active circuit and a non-issue in passive. Probably 95 percent of the replacement output jacks (it's an OUTPUT jack, Jim, you big dope) in my shop are three-prong/active jacks for that very reason.
Victor (Fret Friend) Posted July 22, 2016 Posted July 22, 2016 Yes just bend the 3rd lug for the 9v battery outta the way...

HSB0531 Posted August 5, 2016 Posted August 5, 2016 Yes like everyone said. The 3rd. leg is only to disconnect/connect the battery + terminal. Its a Tip/Ring//Sleeve jack. Tip is audio Ring is battery + Sleeve is audio ground. So you will only use the tip and sleeve in a passive circuit.
