merlin4 Posted May 7, 2017 Posted May 7, 2017 THIS GUITAR IT IS UP FOR SALE serial # 554065 for a good amount of cash. Anyone know the history of the guitar? It looks like to my inexperience eyes there may be an area to the neck with some type of repair? Hameritis?
Tortious Posted May 7, 2017 Posted May 7, 2017 Apparently it was for sale at Willcutt's a couple years ago, and was discussed here. http://www.hamerfanclub.com/forums/topic/73292-psa-hamer-korina-standard-willcutts/ No mention of damage at the time. I don't see it on ebay.
django49 Posted May 7, 2017 Posted May 7, 2017 $4k(?!?) Patience, Pilgrim.....One will come your way!
Tortious Posted May 8, 2017 Posted May 8, 2017 Well, you got me sort of curious. I found the ad. I also found an old ebay ad from when Willcutt had it. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Hamer-Korina-Standard-Vintage-Natural-USED-065-/321919195706?_ul=AR I was wondering why the previous HFC thread mentioned a Brazilian board, but that's how it was advertised at the time. It also said it had a COA. The current ad mentions neither. I would hope whoever had it in the interim didn't lose the COA. Plus all the CITES bullshit could get even more annoying someday without it. If you are seriously interested, the current seller appears to be an actual retail store. http://www.guitarshowcase.com/ I guess you could make them an offer. They are taking a 10% hit through ebay, so another 10% below that might be a good starting point. Is your concern that dark spot on the side of the fretboard above the neck joint? I'm kinda wondering about that too.
merlin4 Posted May 8, 2017 Author Posted May 8, 2017 yes that was what I was talking about....perhaps a repair and the reason they posted this picture?
JohnnyB Posted May 9, 2017 Posted May 9, 2017 I lived in the San Jose area in the '80s and remember Guitar Showcase very well, and visited there a couple of times. They had a pretty impressive collection of used and vintage gear. I just followed the link to the store's website, however, and that Korina Standard is nowhere to be found (or any Hamer, for that matter).
merlin4 Posted May 9, 2017 Author Posted May 9, 2017 Quote I was hoping someone here knows the owner or family ....the guitar is probably on consignment and the shop is getting a hefty $$$ for there work. Years ago I bought a NOS Fender strat plus from the original owner who had bought it from them. He met his future wife days after buying it and signed up for lessons thru them but we all know the story. it sat under a bed for 20 some years til they sold the house .He took it back to them and they offered a consignment deal for 20 to 30% ? Fortunately we crossed paths.
