1979 Hamer Suburst - Assistance Identifying

Racer19

Question

Posted

A friend of mine recently passed on and left me his Hamer Double Cutaway Sunburst.  I’m new to Hamer and could use some help identifying it and appraising.  I have no intention of selling, but mainly out of curiosity and insuring its replacement value.

The serial on the back of the headstock is 9-1023.  Confirming this was made in 1979 and #1023 built?  (Feedback please)

Thoughts on its value?

-Neck straight

-No mods

-Light play marks.

Unfortunately I’m unable to add additional photos.

Others who are more adept will give you some valuation, but welcome!

Sorry for your loss, but what a great gift to remember your friend.

1979. Perfect color.  I'll throw out a value of $1500-$1800.

That's a pretty special friend.

We usually offer $350 for any Hamer, but that one looks like it worth a bit more.

The headstock looks like it has never bumped anything.  hamerhead's price range would be fair.  There are some people who fish for higher prices, but that does not always mean they get it.
