specialburst80 Posted July 15, 2018 Posted July 15, 2018 Are there many of theses around? Mine is Translucent Yellow
cmatthes Posted July 15, 2018 Posted July 15, 2018 It's a Sunburst with the incorrect logo (it's happened before). The top on a Special is rounded/bullnosed, and it would be difficult to add binding. It's possible that the headstock was refinned, but it could have left the shop that way too.
specialburst80 Posted July 16, 2018 Author Posted July 16, 2018 Thanks for answers. My father was the original owner and it is all original. Excellent condition! He told me something about it being marked wrong. And going through a lot to get it.
ARM OF HAMER Posted July 17, 2018 Posted July 17, 2018 Great looking guitar! the early "Sunbursts" were Hamers first production guitar and one of the best models they made...............some would say the best. That guitar was worth going through a lot to get it......................... and your lucky to have it.
specialburst80 Posted July 18, 2018 Author Posted July 18, 2018 yea I wish I were a better player but it's a very sweet guitar!

sixlicks Posted July 18, 2018 Posted July 18, 2018 My 1980 does not have crowns nor is it bound .It does not say Sunburst on the headstock . The color is pretty close to yours.
specialburst80 Posted July 20, 2018 Author Posted July 20, 2018 Nice!!! Same as mine without the crown inlay. I believe mine should have had the same logo as yours? It has "Special" checkerboard logo. Awesome color😉
