I recently got a Trace-Elliot Transit A pedalboard,. It's just the thing for your pasty white folk-singer type, such as myself. It doesn't have any provision for battery operation, though. I'm thinking that I could seriously reduce setup time, hunting for AC outlets, etc. if I could come up with a battery power supply for the thing. There's one very occasional gig I do where not having to hunt up an additional outlet, even though it's available someplace would be a life-saver. Also, I'm playing in a "cavalcade of stars" (HAH!) Tom Petty tribute tonight and want to use it, but don't want to slow the show down during the transition. Seems unavoidable, though. My general idea would be a bank of 3 or 4 rechargeables (I have the batteries and charger) in order to provide enough current to light the board up, possibly attach-able to the board via velcro and an easy-open enclosure to change the batteries out. I'm pretty sure any parts I need can be had at Parts Express, just down the road from me, but I'm otherwise fuzzy on design ideas.
Any pointers, tips, potential problems, etc. would be much appreciated. BTW, I'm pretty sure that a single 9 volt would last about no time at all or wouldn't provide enough current. So a hillbilly engineered battery clip taped to a plug somethingorother probably isn't in the cards.
