Brooks Posted February 4, 2021 Posted February 4, 2021 Wasn't Dio's cousin in the rods? EDIT - yep. The Rods are an American heavy metal band formed in 1980 by David "Rock" Feinstein (guitar, vocals), Steven Starmer (bass, vocals), and Carl Canedy (drums, vocals). After the first two albums, Starmer was replaced by Garry Bordonaro. Feinstein had first come to mainstream attention after playing in Elf with his cousin Ronnie James Dio.
RobB Posted February 4, 2021 Posted February 4, 2021 I saw them on their first two tours in L.A. Feinstein totally ripped the place up, kinda like a heavier Ted Nugent with better chops.

princeofdarkness56 Posted February 5, 2021 Posted February 5, 2021 Back in the 70’s and early 80’s you had a pretty good selection of hard rock bands from western NY that had personnel that went on to bigger things. Tallas out of Buffalo. Elf and then the Rods from the Syracuse area and Black Sheep with Lou Graham out of Rochester. Pretty good chance of seeing any one of those bands at least once a month.
