Bigsby Removal

Obviously the word loves Bigsbys', they're on any guitar available. I want to remove the one on my Newport. It 's in the way, bulky, I don't use it. Has anyone done this before? What tailpiece was used? Looking on Reverb at ES style trapeze replacement. Looks like it should work. Anybody?

You’ll have residual screw holes, but if that’s not an issue for you, there are plenty of trapeze style tailpieces available that would work.

I gave up on a Mon lll because I just can't hang with a bigsby.

There are a few Monaco IIIs out there without Bigsbys, and it’s an easy mid to remove.

Will a wraptail work on a Newport??

BCR did it on a Superpro but don't know about a Newport. Guess I have seen a Newport with a wraptail and p-90s tho, so might be possible.  

 

Thanks for the replies. I'll order in a es trapeze and see how the empty Bigsby holes look.
