topekatj Posted September 23, 2021 Posted September 23, 2021 I've never seen a black early '80's Special. The pickups seem to have been switcheroo'd at some point but the S/N looks legit. Lots of pitting on the tuner buttons. What are the thoughts of the Forum? https://reverb.com/item/44231586-hamer-special-1981-black
Biz Prof Posted September 23, 2021 Posted September 23, 2021 I like it. Looks naturally aged and ready to rock. OHSC, too. Didn't Kiz have one like that , but with the double-cream bridge pickup and matching rings?

Had a couple, yes. '81 - Used to be a Graphics Special. Previous owner was a stupid head. '82 - 2nd smallest neck I have ever seen on a Hamer. I changed the pickups to the Hamer "standard" zebra/double crème combo, then sold it. '78 - I know it's not a Special, but this thread can only be improved by its inclusion.

The neck on the '81 was skinny, but then they pretty much all were. I have 2 Hamers left in the museum - a Monaco and a SuperPro. All others have indeed moved on.
hamerhead Posted September 23, 2021 Posted September 23, 2021 I had that '82 for awhile. Indeed, the neck was transparent.
