Strat Body Replacement Questions

Feynman

Question

I have been gifted a very nice Partscaster.  It sounds great and is setup perfectly, so I'd like to change all of that.

This is built with USA Fender stuff, and I'd like to try and keep it that way if possible.  This isn't a requirement, as long as it's a good quality body.

Neck is from a 2001 Deluxe Fat Strat (LSR roller, locking, 22 fret, etc.).  Body is a swimming pool route, perhaps from a Strat Plus or similar.  Text is no longer legible.

In any case, I want to change the body to a white or a dark/tobacco burst.

Google tells me Strat bodies are pretty much interchangeable, but to pay attention to the trem posts/studs...is this correct?

I don't know the right terms for anything.  Is it really as easy as finding a two point trem body/studs instead of the six point (assuming USA stuff)?    I can see obvious differences in some newer bodies, like sculpted heels and such, but I'm more worried about the non-obvious things I may not be aware of.

I'd like to keep some working space under the guard, so at least HSH routing.  I may decide to start tinkering with pickups, as I'll do almost anything to avoid actually playing the guitar.

Thanks.  All tips/info/suggestions/purchasing options appreciated.

I picked up a Transparent Blonde Strat body from The Stratosphere a couple months ago. It was an Allparts body yet were cheaper than buying from Allparts. They have original Fender parts, necks, bodies with trems installed, 6 or 2 point. They also have loaded bodies where you can just slap a neck on it too.  Best part for me was, no waiting for a build like Warmoth.

Thank you.  They appear to have a large variety of bodies, but with no apparent filtering mechanism?  Am I missing it?

Ok, I am an actual computer DUMMIE, I have no idea what you mean by filtering mechanism  and I am TOTALLY missing it !

You can use the search function for rudimentary filtering on the Stratosphere site.  Select "bodies" on the main menu and search for "Stratocaster" for example.  I don't think you can search by color, but I've never tried.

Your Fender neck and hardware will fit Warmoth Strat bodies.  At most, you'd need to do some very light sanding of the neck pocket, but probably not. I'm a big fan of the Warmth vintage  Strat bodies.  Nice, deep contours.

As BadgerDave pointed out, I just meant your typical filter selection boxes to narrow it down.  You can't for example, click bodies, then choose a type (Tele/Strat/USA/wood/color/etc.).  It's just 15 pages of random bodies, so a bit cumbersome.

Thanks to everyone for the replies.  I understand it all better than I did a few days ago.

There seem to be plenty of decent bodies out there, and I'm sure one of them and my mood and wallet will align someday.

Gotcha.  BTW, I did find mine by pulling up Strat bodies by color.
