Chaparral Wiring Question-3 Mini Switch Version

Question

So, I bought the mahogany Chap that was for sale on Reverb.  Got some issues with the serial number and authenticity.  Story for another day.

However, if I end up keeping it, the wiring will need to be redone.  Looks like someone had this guitar and a pet chimpanzee and left it out when they went to the grocery store.  Terrible wiring job.  Middle mini switch was crackling as received.

Anyway, barely touching the wires to see what was up, off came a few cold soldered joins.  There appear to be a few floating in space!  So now, not only is it really busy inside, but now I have phantom wires.  I have seen a couple of pics and schematics for a 3 mini switch Chap, but boy, they still don't present a clear view of all the wiring needed.  Hard to tell where the wires for the pickups go.  So, does anyone have a "beginners" schematic or clear picture to share with me?  Even a hand drawn sketch would be helpful.  Current pu's are (allegedly) a SD neck, a mystery middle, and a original Hamer HB.

Thanks in advance.

Here is the schematic for the 3 mini switch chap

I like to just clip all the old bad wires out of there and start fresh, you can tell which pickup is which by attaching a multimeter set to resistance and then tapping pole pieces with a screwdriver, the reading will change when you're on the live pickup

Thanks.  Yes, I saw this one.  The thick line coming from the pickup area and connecting to the ground confused me.  What does that represent....all the ground wires from the pickup and tremolo claw????  Is that "number 8" bare wires from pickup?

My plan was to do as you suggested....clip everything and start over.  Want to be sure I understand how it is rewired before cutting components free.

The thick black line that they drew going to the tone pot is the humbucker cable, when you look in the cavity you'll see it's the only fat black one, number 8 is the bare wire from that humbucker cable that should be grounded on the tone pot.

Use the pickup wire code on the left side of the diagram to solder to the switches, number one through seven

Then solder jumper wires according to the diagram, there is there are two jumper wires each on left and middle switches and one on the right

I'll PM you my number, call if you want me to walk you through the schematic

This shot is hard to read but if you look close you can see 3 pickups coming in on the top and if you look really close you might be able to figure out where each one goes.

Do you get phase switching with this setup as well?

I do on mine.  They're all 3 way switches and off in the middle.

Not my guitar. Just a pic I have. Owner hasn't been around since '22 so I can't ask them. I only posted to help you clarify and understand the schematic.
