whiskeyzulu Posted May 17, 2012 Posted May 17, 2012 1979 Sunburst (9 0833) w/ OHSC - SOLD $1,595 Now $1,375 to your door/con US (knock off $50 for pp gift, check or $ order). Good: • Overall, very good cosmetic shape for a 33 year old guitar – a few nicks, small impressions (2 on front, 2 on back of neck and a couple chips on headstock) & assorted scratches. No checking, no repairs, no cracks, rash or large blemishes. • Frets have life and no dents – they are low and wide and, since the bass side of 21/22nd frets look like the rest of frets, seems to be their original profile. • Pups are original Dimarzios & volume pots date from ’78. • Bulls eye tuners and pronounced lip headstock. • Single piece medium profile neck – not shredder/90’s thin but little less than vintage carve. • Buttons, selector and jack appear original. • 8.2lbs on bathroom Scale. Bad (or nor so bad): • A small ding on lower back below ferules – PM for pic. • There is wear into the fret board mostly on 1st and 2nd frets. It’s odd, b/c looking at frets don’t think there was that much play and certainly not on 1st fret enough to cause wear. In any event, I honestly don’t feel it at all when playing. • Slight pitting/corrosion on saddles and one saddle screw not original. • Tone knob has internal crack, but its stable and fully functional and tone pot looks replaced. • Case missing a latch and another is loose and has sticker/sticker residue but otherwise solid. Hamer Dave Posted May 18, 2012 Posted May 18, 2012 Could the frets have been leveled? Would account for low/wide frets and no divots (being removed from the filing).
Hamer Dave Posted May 18, 2012 Posted May 18, 2012 LOVE that. I miss my 79 Sunburst. Yep! I miss mine too. The one I sold to my bass player for $300 in the 80's. I definitely remember them bulls eye tuners.
