Hamerica Posted August 25, 2006 Posted August 25, 2006 Hmmmm, the $100,000 Hamer. I never imagined it would be a Holloskull Cali. On Ebay right now, you can get your hands on one or as the poster puts it (one of the few). Jol had previously stated that the time to make reissues was when the used (ah hmm) vintage market equaled or surpassed the currrent prices of new models. Boys, get ready for a bunch of new set neck Calis if this sells. On another point, what is the know top $ for any Hamer currently being sold recently on the market? Kinda of posting poll - what do you consider the holy grails?
cloakerz Posted August 26, 2006 Posted August 26, 2006 ok guys and gals..............I live about 20 minutes from surrey, BC and drive by it every day for work. If anyone here wants to buy this guitar I can preview it for you so you can be assured it's worth 100,000. HA!HA!HA!HA!HA!HA!, EH?
RJoseph133 Posted August 28, 2006 Posted August 28, 2006 I understand the seller's plight. Give him a break, all you "haters." He needs the money so he can buy a better digital camera so he can take a better quality photo of his friggin' guitar.
cmatthes Posted August 28, 2006 Posted August 28, 2006 Is this whole thing just the seller's way of letting the world know/bragging about owning that guitar or something? There is not a chance in hell he thinks it'll sell, unless he is as stupid as he is clueless.Okay, we get it...you've got a Holoskull Cali. NOT the rarest thing out there, dude!
belgian Posted August 28, 2006 Posted August 28, 2006 On another point, what is the know top $ for any Hamer currently being sold recently on the market? Kinda of posting poll - what do you consider the holy grails? There was a 4 digit standard that belonged to James Holyman-Scott that was auctioned last year, with a 10.000 $ starting price. I don't know what it was sold for.Holy grails ? That price makes it , I guess.
serial Posted August 28, 2006 Posted August 28, 2006 One of Hlubek's Standards (4 digits) recently went on the block at $10k, but don't think it sold. Martin Barre's #0002 apparently sold a year or so ago. I know that the seller was looking for A LOT for that one, but I do know that there was some talk in the healthily over $10k range. I forget what happened there though.
RJoseph133 Posted August 28, 2006 Posted August 28, 2006 James Honeyman-Scott's Standard would be something I would consider for that price. He was one of my heroes. Notice; I said consider. When I lived in Jacksonville, the old time gee-tar nuts had stories about Hlubek selling stunning vintage and custom guitars from the trunk of his Rolls-Royce for $100-$200 to fund his (non guitar-collecting) habit. I'm sure whoever ended up with his Standard stands to make quite a markup. But a holo-skull Cali, which (contrary to some others' opinions on this board) looks like the end result of a sticker-crazed 4 year old's rampage against a guitar? With no pedigree whatsoever? Huh?
BTMN Posted August 28, 2006 Posted August 28, 2006 "One of Hlubek's Standards (4 digits) recently went on the block at $10k, but don't think it sold." I missed that where was that? I have had one of his Standards since December '82. I paid $425. He got $150 when he pawned it and he got $100 for B/W 4 digit Vector I owned for a while. I was in the shop the day they and a Sunburst came out of pawn along with a Hamer Cruise he had pawned. Hlubek said the Vector was a gift from Micheal Schenker when they toured together and Hamer confirmed in '83 for me that the story was true on who the guitars went to. IIRC, the JHS was initially offered at $15K and didn't sell at that or the reoffer at $10K price. I belive it did get sold though. Martin Barre's did go for $10K I seem to recall.
