zorrow Posted September 24, 2007 Posted September 24, 2007 This weekend I got the pleasure to play one of my Vectors through my friend's rig at our monthly jam. Just replaced his EMG-loaded Gibson LesPaul by my Vector flametop at the top of the chain, and man that was absolutely sonic nirvana! Can you believe that my poor old beaten Vector (this was Roli's flametop) kicked the LesPaul lady's ass out of any question? Man, even me, I am amazed! Edited to remove the offending "which really looks like a piece of crushed crap" line -- sorry Roli, your guitar actually rocks and looks really great in spite of its age and its mileage.
BubbaVO Posted September 24, 2007 Posted September 24, 2007 Couple of thoughts:1) I like that set up. Simple. Easily replicated in different environments. 2) The more I horse around with those Peavey Classics, the more I like. 3) Those old Hamers really do stand up to the test of time. DiMarzio's right?
Steve Haynie Posted September 24, 2007 Posted September 24, 2007 Don't forget to pat yourself on the back, too. Great equipment does not produce great tone by itself.
sw686blue Posted September 24, 2007 Posted September 24, 2007 Don't forget to pat yourself on the back, too. Great equipment does not produce great tone by itself. +1. Zorrow has monster chops although he's too humble to admit it.
Roli Posted September 24, 2007 Posted September 24, 2007 Hi Zorrow, I´m happy that you can get this amazing sounds out of my old Vector! But I don´t agree that the guitar "looks like a piece of crushed crap". It´s a 26 years old guitar that have been played. And the top still looks nice, doesn´t it?

Ok, ok, it's not so bad, you're right... and the top does look great, though not so great as my friend's LesPaul -- or as Nick's Monaco for that matter. Anyway, the sound I get from this little beast is so amazing that I don't give a dime to how it looks, really. By the way, when I compare this guitar to my other two Vectors, its body looks to me like it was thinned down. Is the original owner of this guitar still around? Edited to add: ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hey Nick! I'll call you the next weekend, promised! -- last Sunday was my gig and I just arrived home too late.

Is the original owner of this guitar still around? This is what I have been told:Frank Untermeyer was working hard to promote the brand Hamer in Germany. He could convince a dealer I know about the quality of their instruments. So this dealer (maybe in alliance with a few others???) ordereda small run of Vectors (I don´t have an idea how many). I also don´t know if this instruments had any differnces to the ordinary Vectors of that time.
BTMN Posted September 25, 2007 Posted September 25, 2007 This topic is useless without guitar pron. Sounds like a nice easy setup to work with.

zorrow Posted September 25, 2007 Author Posted September 25, 2007 Ok Roli, I removed the line from the first post. It's definitively a kick-ass guitar and I should be crucified for saying it looks bad... In fact, my friends love it! -- and I also do, of course! Yeah man, I'm lucky as hell!
