  1. Finally got our first "winter storm" in So. Cal. this week. Temps in the 50's. Time for me to hibernate. Here is the picture from my front porch to prove it. Mountains in Ventura County.
  2. I am the original owner of this 1982 Super Champ. Great cleans. I like the overdrive channel. Sounds great up to about an AC/DC crunch. I think it gets a little fizzy beyond that. No high gain Mesa sounds in mine at least.
  3. This bold construction, forged of natural materials, is a vision of man's struggle to blunt the cudgel of the oppressive, relentless forces of early 21st century global industrial society. The juxtaposition of both the charred and highly polished surfaces celebrates the human spirit's indomitable regenerative capacity. A clever wink to familiar yet not widely appreciated forms will charm the true aficionado. No detail is too small to have been overlooked, even here, displayed at a purposely provocative angle. Available at 38,000. All inquiries held in strictest confidence.
  4. Short List 1982 Fender SuperChamp Frenzel Supersport 5-20 Roland Cube 30 Crate Powerblock Lovepedal 1/2 watt Vintage Amp And I think that is four more than I really want.
  5. JohnnyB, You are truly the answer man. What would we all do without you. Serious food for thought. Many thanks. A Warmoth thinline Tele with Phatcats and contouring and a 24 3/4 neck might be pretty close to a Newport too.. sorta.
  6. jwhitcomb3. I am totally with you. I love my Newport but my aging body loves my Strat's shape. I would certainly like to have a guitar that sounds kinda like a Newport but is comfortable like a Strat.
  7. Love it. Chambered too. How much does it weigh? Oh yeah, I may as well ask the mandatory, "is it resonant"?
  8. so...it's not resonant?
  9. Here is a version of "Cry Me a River" that is understated and sublime. 2 self assured titans of their craft who no longer feel the need to prove themselves.
  10. I may be an a$$hole but I am not a perfect a$$hole; I have hemorrhoids.
  11. Rats, try again. Bare with me as I learn how to paste a picture. Thank you JohnnyB. Here I go again. And blast you Bill Gates and Steve Ballmer; I believe Microsoft Live to be a secret portal to hell.
  12. Rats, try again. Bare with me as I learn how to paste a picture.
  13. Epiphone Elitist 335. Made in Japan. Boffo.
  14. You may want to check out the Epiphone Elitist Dot 335. Made in Japan, discontinued last year. Outstanding construction. I have one. Sounds, looks and is constructed like a good Gibson 335. The stock pickups are Gibsons that have been renumbered to hide the fact that they are same as on the real thing. Poly finish vs. nitro. I don't play it anymore because I like my Newport better and because the large size hurts my poor old shoulder after about 20 minutes.
  15. Some really off the beaten track but beautiful ones. "Train of Love" - Neil Young "Two Angels" - Peter Case "Love Hurts" - Gram Parsons "Almost Blue" - Elvis Costello "Between Trains" - Robbie Robertson "Going Away Party" - Willie Nelson with Asleep At the Wheel "For No One" - Riki Lee Jones version of this Beatles song "Diamonds and Rust" - Joan Baez "Rainbow Sleeve" - Riki Lee Jones
