  1. Are you serious? Carr was terrible. What's with hitting a rack tom every time he hit the damn snare? Terrible. "I Love It Loud" was his "When the Levee Breaks." Everything else? Crap.
  2. I believe it was AdmiralB who burned this one for me a few years ago. Jake's stuff with Ozzy never did anything for me (like Hamer95USA said, too many gott-damn effects) but the Badlands debut is the shit. And how about some props for Eric Singer? GREAT drummer. Hell, he even made post-makeup Kiss a legitimately tough rock'n'roll band on "Revenge." Eric Carr ... feh. Too busy, and not in a good Mitch Mitchell/Keith Moon sorta way.
  3. Bring it by on Sunday. There are some Strat fans who would love to take a crack at that thing.
  4. Great score Bill. I had my eye on that one too but I just ain't a single coil guy.
  5. Pretty much everything Bill said is right on. The first and third leads on this jam recorded at MWJV were played with my '77 Sunburst that has a BBQ in the bridge. http://www.hamerfanclub.com/memberpages/mu...s/moretimes.MP3 As for the low end, you can really hear how much it was puttin' out on those pulsating E chords at the end. Then again, that might have been the Genuine Texas I have in the neck slot. And a lot of credit goes to the Fargen; damn that little bastard kicks out a lot of bass thru a 4x12!
  6. Chris Impelliteri comes immediately to mind. Man, that dude's positively robotic!
  7. Yeah, jazz guys NEVER do this ...
  8. Of course you do. But when you go OUT OF YOUR WAY to rail against shred music (which isn't my thing either; I feel the same way about it as Brooks does) you can and should expect to be called out on it. You don't like shred. We get it. So why chime in on this thread unless you wanted to stir something up? Maybe that's exactly what you wanted to do; hell, I do it all the time myself. Just don't go getting all defensive when someone reacts. After all, isn't that what you wanted? A reaction? Well done, sir ... you got it. Now then. What's the REAL reason you hate shred/hair metal? Are you jealous that you didn't/don't have the work ethic/talent to achieve that level of skill? Did the people who threw you in lockers and kicked your ass in high school listen to hair metal? Does the sight of men dressed up as women cause a tingling in your loins that you're not comfortable with? Honestly ... WHAT THE FUCK IS IT?
  9. Good luck on a guitar board.
  10. Another question ... will there ever be a thread in which you WON'T mention this guy?
  11. Is there ANYTHING involving even the slightest semblance of advanced technical skill that you like? And no, Margo mumbling the words to "Sweet Jane" as if she just ingested an entire bottle of Valiums doesn't count.
  12. This bitch gets regular rotation with me. I can flat-out fly on it:
  13. I don't know why I chimed in. Cleaning fretboards, like intonation, is for pussies.
  14. Seconded, mah brotha from anotha motha!
  15. The lead in this tune was recorded with a Duncan Distortion bridge PUP in a super-strat. Oh yeah, there's some wah on there too: http://www.hamerfanclub.com/memberpages/mu...20Way%20Out.mp3
  16. Way too much work.
  17. SirDan's just an asshole. Ask the salespeople at Chicago Music Exchange. As with any type of change, you get used to it.
  18. Of course not. ANY type of tuning adjustment at the bridge, especially intonation, is for PUSSIES! Damn Lou ... you hit a home run with this one!
  19. Yep. That's the ticket.
  20. Yeah they're surprisingly nice considering they're imports.
  21. I've played BruceM's through my Valvetech rig. LACERATING tone.
  22. In my line of work we call that a "spinner." Great score Jaye. Those guitars look unassuming but are NOT for the meek.
  23. There's a mid-'70s Peter Fonda flick called "Race With the Devil" that came out a bit past his prime but it has a genuinely creepy Satanism element to it. A pretty good "normal person crosses paths with psychopath" thriller along the lines of "Deliverance," "Duel" and "Breakdown."
  24. I had an appointment with my accountant Saturday and went to the nearby GC afterward. They had the Bad Monkeys on sale for $29.99, which I had heard about on the Harmony Central board. That put me over the edge ... talk about a no-brainer price. It's a Chinese version. Noodled around with it for a few minutes on my PV Classic 50. Nice grind, nice girth. Definitely didn't suck bass like my Boss SD-1 or the OD side of my VS Route 66.
