True, but when do you get to the point where you realize that you can't (nor perhaps should you) change America into something it's not? How long do you remain in a lousy marriage before you decide that life is too short to be miserable and perhaps it's best to move on? If a place like, say, Canada provides the cultural atmosphere you prefer and you're not getting it in the U.S., why not move there? Could it be that you're not willing to give up the relatively higher comfort level of being an American? Not flamin', just askin'. Edited to add: this should really be on the OC. Devereaux? I answer no to both. This thread just happenes to be about music and musicians.

What I don't dig are the ones who sound off against poverty, disease and/or the oppression of the little guy by the power elite, then you see 'em on MTV Cribs or elsewhere showing off their wealth. If they really gave a damn, they'd live in a small home, drive a practical car and donate the rest to the poor. But, of course, they DON'T give a damn, they just want to appear like they do. So it's the hypocrisy that's a pisser.

I pretty much tune out the actual lyrics whenever I want to and just focus on the melody. For example, Green Day's "American Idiot" is a damn good rocker. I'm pretty sure I wouldn't agree with the sentiment if I knew what the words were.
