  1. Nodody mentioned... Hamer Porn!
  2. Well, I don't know what "Ashley Simpson situation" you're talking about because I saw the White Stripes at Red Rocks this August and they were excellent and sounded great. I was definitely suprised because I wasn't expecting a twosome to sound so good. I did catch a few times where they used a backing track that seemed to be triggered by one of Meg's electronic drum pads. Jack's playing and singing were right on (with guitars in tune, no less) and Meg kept good time through most of the songs. It was most assuredly the same White Stripes live as on their records! Maybe you caught 'em on a bad night.
  3. I've got to say that I think Jack White and the White Stripes are the sh*t! He's not tied into any one type of song/music and is always experimenting and trying new things. I love the over-the-top-close-to-the-edge-of-noise guitar "tone" on the rockin' stuff. I saw them live this summer and they were GREAT! (Ok, Jack was great, Meg is not as good as high school freshmen in Jazz I ). Let the hate go guys and listen a little closer.
  4. Ok, I just thought these guys would be REALLY interesting... David Bowie (the coolest man on the planet) Johnny Cash (need I say more?) Curt Kirkwood, Meat Puppets - it was hard to decide between Curt & David Byrne but I needed at least one guitar player (sorry Uncle Ricky )
  5. I went in the studio this weekend & the owner was talking about them. He said they were just recording in the same studio. That's cool David, what studio are we talking about here? Any "insider" knowledge on the band? DBT are due for a cranking album, hope it's out sometime in '06!
  6. +1 on Bonamassa - he's a stud. I've been liking Dirty Americans and Living Things lately but my favorite "new" band still has to be Drive by Truckers. If you like southern rock (even if you don't) check 'em out AND they are one of the best live bands I have ever seen.
  7. Import Rick Nielsen Signature, which I promptly put in Pearly Gates/CustomCustom and it still kicks ass. 1st USA was/is a Vanguard P-90 from Jack C - sweet!
  8. Saw it again last night and I have to agree with Thunders, it's gonna be a TIVO show. I was curious about how the song choosing process went, but on the other hand am actually very glad that they concentrated on the performances and reviews. So I guess tonight they'll probalby fill the 1/2 hour with that kind of stuff leading up to who gets the boot. Although I thought the redhead, don't know many names yet, sounded the best I STILL don't see a chick fronting the band and unfortunately I think the guys are weaker singers than the girls on the whole. I thought it was interesting that Ty picked "Heartbreaker" (thought for sure one of the chicks would want it) but he really cranked it out and seems to be the leader in the clubhouse. At this moment in time I'd have to agree with Craig that I can't really see ANY of these people fronting INXS. It's not your normal get-up-and-jump-around-and rock-out kind of band. There was always a sinewy, sexy sort of vibe with Hutchence's singing and that's definitely not in evindence with any of these people. I think they could've done a better job at finding people that might aactually FIT in with the band along with having some talent and desire to be a rocker. I know they're looking for someone to record the new album, but when you go on the road it's still INXS and they've got all those great songs that someone has to sing. BTW, did any of you guys know that Terrence Trent D'Arby did a stint with INXS after Hutchence passed away? Now THAT sounds intriguing
  9. +1 for "The Swing" - great album. I watched tonight and was entertained, but was not too impressed with about half the contestants, but am hoping to see them step up a little more in the coming shows. I'm wondering about something though... I see on their website that the guys from INXS have been working with some female singers and I guess because of the whole American Idol vibe, they probably have to have women contestants to help pull in as many viewers as possible but I can't see a woman fronting the band. Michael Hutchins' vibe and tonal range made the band what it was and I can't see a woman pulling it off (although after tonight I'm not sure any of the guys has what it takes either, we'll see). Am I totally out of line? I'll keep watching... for now.
  10. I know I'm old school but that is NOT an album. Also greatest hits albums are bogus too. JMO +1 Hendrix - Are You Experienced? Matthew Sweet - Girlfriend VH - VH AC/DC - Back in Black Led Zep II PLUS... Sabbath - Black Sabbath/Paranoid/Master of Reality The Cars - Candy-O Joe Bonamassa - Blues Deluxe Derek and the Dominos - Layla and ... Satriani - Surfing with the Alien Billy Idol - Rebel Yell Meat Puppets - Huevos
  11. Good luck on your recovery Tres! Sorry to hear about the accident - I thought people in Boulder were more aware of cyclists (since they're a ton of them)? keep your chin up.
