Just sayin' what comes to mind as I read the thread.

I don't think it's a hiatus at all- I think Fender is in trouble and we'll see more downsizing from them in the very near future. If it was a hiatus, the custom orders would have continued, albeit on an even smaller scale. Hell, even one a year. And even if they were just "cooling" the brand, having those imports being the momentary torch bearers is a baaaaad move. Hiatus: A gap or interruption in space, time, or continuity; a break Jesus Christ. Sorry I shared.

I don't want to say this, but, just so we're clear: I hate taking pictures. I've never made a video/extensively played someone's order before this. I just assume have them drop-shipped. Any pic or video of a custom order you see from me is always either requested or encouraged by the owner.

Quick and dirty from last night, informal jam with a couple of my teachers and a customer. All 3 pickups wide open, preamp overdriven on purpose. Once I experimented with the volumes, I found the bass sounds ENTIRELY different with the split pickup by itself (warm thick fuzz), and the tones out of the X2N's one at a time were very cool too (like using a solo bucker-very useful on this bass). Rolling down volumes had very pleasing clean up, and reigned in the monstrousness of the sound quite well. I actually didn't want to stop using it for a long time, which is rare for me with a multi string bass. Played very well on the neck (easy).

Saw him at 930 Club DC, kinda didn't get it, but it was super late and we were super tired (surprise after party show-we were at the venue already for Veruca Salt/Local H.). There is a Prince LP in the loving room this thread makes me want to hear. Loved the SB halftime. Kevin Smith does a great monologue about working with him.

In Cheap Trick's defense, they've managed to put out a new album every 3 years for last decade or so. Sarzo's a band whore. I don't think Blotzer has the chops for much of the Queensryche catalog.

He starts his tour down the road from here. Would like to go but being unsure if the set and degree of rock gives me pause. Sorry, OF the set.
