Has anyone ever built, owned, or played anything along these lines? How was it, and would you recommend it. Seems like it would make for an extremely resonant instrument...

Not exactly in line with the subject, but kind sorta... I remember years ago, someone here (don't remember who) told the story about ordering a guitar case from MF. When it arrived they opened it to find a Hamer inside! Being a good HFC'er, as is typical, they called MF to make return arrangements... They were told that it would probably be better for everyone involved, if they were to just keep it versus pursuing things. Details may be skewed, but that's how I recall it.

This always made me want to learn the uke.

Fixed. I love early Krokus, and even that later stuff. I saw them in '83, I think. Been a lot of years and night's sleep since then. They were great live. ETA: Just checked my library, there are six Krokus albums in it. I had 'The Blitz' on vinyl back in the day.

Wish I had grabbed one of these when they were going for $700-ish.

The favorite guitars I own are Hamer, and Gibson... Of the latter specifically, a 1996 '61 RI SG, and a 1992 'Les Paul Model' Classic. As for brands (since Hamer went defunct) it's up in the air... Whatever grabs me, as long as it is 24-3/4" mahog or korina, and set-neck. That is the formula I seem to have bonded with. I have played short scale bolt-ons that I really liked, but never found a neck-thru that really spoke to me.

I’m with you Brooks. I love songs off all of his albums. Regardless of the hate he has gotten from various angles on certain platforms, the dude can flat play the hell out of a guitar. And while we do what we do, and as life goes forward, he has made millions doing what he loves and lives for.
