KISS: RARHOF Update. Not Good.
DaveH replied to LordOfTheThighs's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
How long have Thayer and Singer been with the band? How long were Frehley and Criss there (I mean actually with Kiss)? I lost interest in Kiss 35 years ago so I don't know those answers... But I'm guessing it has been at least equal length stints in the band, and maybe longer for Thayer and Singer(?). That would explain a lot about the exclusions/inclusions to me. Same deal with AC/DC. Some people say it isn't AC/DC without Bon Scott... Well, yes it is, and in many ways it rises above. Both are excellent lineups, but the truth is Bon was there what, 6 or 7 years? Johnson is going on 34 years as front man. Off topic rant: At the end of the day, Kiss (Gene and Paul) is still all about image, fame, and money... Not about making great music, and they don't get ANY of my money. AC/DC totally blows Kiss out of the water in every single respect. AC/DC IS rock n roll. -
What is you favorite practice amp.

I'm digging the Blackstar HT5... mine is a head, and I run it into a Mesa Thiele cab with a Weber Bluedog. RAWK! -

Good Lord! -
I don't think they have to worry about Gibson coming after them for those.

Korina, or Mahogany 24.75" Archtop, or flat Wrap or TOM NO sustain block! Long Standard headstock Triplebucker $1500? I'd find a way.

Is C# the less "guitar-friendly" key?
DaveH replied to zorrow's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
Lol... keyboards are SO limited compared to guitars. -
Show yourself playing guitar without a band behind you.

 That's funny, SVL! But I'll play: Jack ass, I'll see your sweat pants and raise you a t-shirt and beat-to-shit flannel. Couldn't really see you but I know you looked really cool, even with the flannel... 'cause you had your FAN!! Most important piece of gear a guitar player can have, so I've heard. -
Got mine today... VERY nice!

I should know this, can't believe I don't recognize him... who is the hot shot with the super-strat dressed like a grease monkey? -
For an American brew, it's hard to beat a Sam Adams Creme Stout.

Possibly starstruck by which famous guitarist?
DaveH replied to zorrow's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
Rik Emmett is a monster. I met Steve Morse one time, not only is he a phenomenal player (and somewhat of a comedian), he's as down to earth as anyone I've met. -
I hope Brandon brings home one of these one day
DaveH replied to Ting Ho Dung's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
I agree. What I like is the way she 'attacks' the guitar, and makes it look so easy. She's talented. -

So are you saying that if someone said your girfriend was a hairy dude you wouldn't say anything about it? Yeah standing up for your better half qualifies as being a dick I'm sure. It's fine to personally attack someone but when they stand up for themselves they are a penis... Nice!!! Lol... someone's been drinking! -
This is good advice. I've come to the conclusion that it doesn't matter what you play through if you're just trying to make an audience happy... they don't know the difference between a POD or hand-wired boutique amp. Make it as easy on yourself as you can, while keeping yourself reasonably satisfied with your tone.

Well, it was fun....... but it's over.

Any cork-sniffing beliefs and practices?
DaveH replied to zorrow's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
Too many people don't pay enough attention to this for sure. I found myself wanting to elaborate on amps, but remembered this was supposed to be about guitars so I refrained. It was hard though. -

Everyone is different, but these are my quirks and what works for me: 1) Guitars constructed from a single species of wood sound/respond better than ones built from two or more species. This applies to neck and body only, not the fretboard. Caps are ok. Also see #2. 2) Guitars constructed from any species other than mahogany or korina don't have 'it'. YMMV. 3) Any bridge other than a TOM or wrap style suck tone away. YMMV. 4) Set-necks are superior in feel and response to bolt-ons or neck-throughs. YMMV. 5) P90 type pups are the only single coil worth using, and I still always go for a HB it seems....predominatly an SH6. YMMV. 6) I will not buy a guitar unless I play it 'dry' (un-amplified). I can tell more about it this way than plugged in. (I WILL buy a Hamer sight-unseen though). -
The bass player is Matt Sinner (SINNER), they are worth checking out as well:

Ronnie Montrose RIP (1947-2012)
DaveH replied to santellavision's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
Felt like I got kicked in the gut when I saw this thread title. SOB. One of the greatest hard rock riffs of all time is 'Rock Candy', RIP Ronnie. ETA: -
This is what I've done as well....except I used a piece of walnut since I have a handful of boards on hand. Use a drop of super glue (so you can get it back out if you need to) and you're set.
