What to do in Vegas? Music related!

This sounds like the dumbest question ever but here's the context:  my older son turned 21 and I promised him a trip to Las Vegas.  For once I will be in Vegas with no business meetings, conventions, or wife to entertain.  Just two guys with three days to do whatever we want.  Dean is my music lover, way better musician than I ever was (check out Venganza on Youtube).  What guitar shops should we hit?  Rock clubs?  We'll do the usual tourist stuff but it would be nice to find something or someplace we might not have without inside information.  The only thing scheduled so far is a guided tour of the punk rock museum with Greg Hetson.  This is the only forum on the whole damn internet that I trust enough to ask such an open-ended question.

We went there for the climbing in Red Rocks. One of our favorite hobbies, besides carb loading, was playing Spot The Hooker©️in bars. When you see a frumpy mid-western guy with a babe in tow headed for the elevators…Bingo! Now drink!

Also, don’t forget the spectacular light show that is overhead on Fremont St. Go at night and play the accompanying game, Spot The Pickpocket©️. Fun for all.

And, AND, you haven’t lived until you’ve stood on the sidewalk in front of the Bellagio, taking in the spectacular fountains, hands full of Want To Meet A Hooker? four color brochures!

Plenty of music related activities in Vegas.

1) Hard Rock Cafe - go there  for the cool vide and artist owned memorabilia. They have super cool Steve Vai heart shaped pink guitar with 3 necks!

2) Live shows - several famous artists are resident performers at casino theaters  - Scorpions, Rod Stewart, Lady Gaga, Lionel Richie to name a few. Soul of Motown show

3) Live music - several restaurants and bars have cool live artists

4) Museums and galleries - Liberace museum, Titanic exhibit, Gaga museum, gallery of Music and Art.

I thought Red Rocks was the best thing about Vegas by far. A friend rented a Ferrari or similar and toured Red Rocks that way, he said it was really fun. You don't have to get out and climb or hike, driving the loop is really spectacular.

The cover bands in the casinos are incredibly tight and accurate. Like a living jukebox. There is an awesome amount of musical talent in the USA and Vegas has a large share. The casinos on the North side of “Main street” are connected. Just wander. There was a brewery just at the start of Cesar’s promenade. It sucks the olde casinos are being torn down. It was a time capsule back to I Dream Of Jennie days and Architecture.

I do like Vegas. Be dammed if I’d live there.

If you're liking the hiking, Valley of Fire state park is a must.  It needs a whole day to itself though, where Red Rock can be a quick morning or afternoon thing.

If you're planning to see Hoover Dam you should include a stop at Hemenway Park in Boulder City.  It's a very brief detour off the route and a local herd of Bighorn Sheep can often be found chillaxin there.

Dead and Co. at the Sphere looks pretty fun, if for no other reason than the visuals.

You can also hike out to the desert a little and rent on/off motorcycles and go exploring.  I know it's not music related, but it's rock and roll.

Hard Rock Cafe is gone. Sad as it was one of the cooler places on the strip. It's now some kind of Virgin abomination.  There are plenty of guitar playing beggars on Fremont Street. The last time I was in Vegas will be my last time in Vegas.
