good seats for Simon Phillips / Protocol last night (nhc)

well worth seeing if you're into that Fusion sort of thing, at Jazz Alley Seattle. Alex is still into the Keisel headless, Earnest with an Xotic 5 string. I bought a cd after, expecting to get Simon to sign it like last time, but a pretty large crowd was waiting around, many more people hanging around after than last time we saw them about a year ago.  My wife had a clear view of the setlist on the stage, there were 4 songs left when they ended, - Simon must have gotten carried away during the drum solo and ran out of time, I assume the staff doesn't like to have to stay late due to encores.

 If you're not familiar with his solo work (you've certainly heard him with other bands), the album "Protocol ii" would be a good place to start, Andy Timmons is in fine form on that one.

Alex's pedal board, I spoke to him very very briefly after, he's using both the Rat and the mini TS9 for 'dirt', Rat drive set pretty low.
